Secretaries

An interesting and indeed remarkable feature concerning the Club is that during the first ninety-seven years of its existence there had been only been three secretaries. For the seventy-nine years from 1891 the post was held by John Meikle, the first secretary of the Club and was followed by his son also John Meilkle. M.G.F Houston (and ex-captain of Irvine Golf Club) took over the post in 1970 until 1988. Secetaries following 1988 until present include, Bill Delvin, Iain Mongomery, Grant Hood, Norman Logie and Ross Baillie.

One other official of the Club who is worthy of note is a gentleman who was a director of Johnnie Walker’s and Captain, 1958-1959, James Braid, son of the James Braid who designed the present course in 1927.
